Leslie Weston isn’t your typical 95-year-old. He’s achieved some great feats in his life – more than he’d care to admit.
He’s got an Order of Australia medal, a Tarcutta Citizen of the Year award and also includes the title of Australia’s oldest greenskeeper among his swag of achievements. For 17 years he maintained the green at the Tarcutta Bowling Club – on his own and unpaid.
His charm and sense of community is palpable.
The community hero recently celebrated his 95th birthday, which saw family come from far and wide to visit. His seven children are scattered around the country – including Wagga, the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne and Queensland.
“I get along really well with all of them – they haven’d disowned me yet,” he said.
Mr Weston is a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
