5.30PM: The marquees are closing and thousands are about to hit the Wagga CBD.
If you haven’t left yet and are planning on catching a bus, you’d better be quick. The last buses leave the MTC at 6pm.
The trip will set you back $5.
5.05PM: Let’s step away from the horses for a moment – after all, there are thousands of people at the MTC today and they all have a story.
Meet Kerry Lloyd, who was born on Melbourne Cup day in 1936. There hasn’t been a year he’s missed the races, notching up an incredible 45 Melbourne Cups and even more Wagga Gold Cups.

4.50pm: And the Gold Cup has been presented. Watch here:
4.45pm: Let’s take a look back over one of the earlier races.
Glen Boss’s Gold Cup win was his second for the day, after taking out the Guineas in the sixth race of the day.
It gave a Wagga carnival victory to two of the biggest names in racing, Boss and Melbourne trainer Peter Moody.
Boss went straight to the front of Stratton and the chestnut kicked strongly in the straight to steal a race-winning lead.
“The dry track was the big key,” Boss said.
4.37pm: The cup favourite, Gypsy Diamond, ran third.
4.30PM: Landlocked has won the 2015 Wagga Gold Cup.
Top jockey Glen Boss celebrated past the post.
Faust placed second.
Third is still to be decided after a photo finish.
4.25PM: And we’re about to start… here comes the Cup! Watch here.
4.20PM: Have you been using the #WaggaGoldCup hashtag? We’ve got some great pictures of people and punters enjoying the day, click this link to have a peek.
4.15PM: It’s the father and son team of Chris and Nick Heywood who found success earlier during race four with Leucura, initially rated a 30-1 chance.
4.05PM: Just 20 minutes to go the massive 2000 metre Wagga Gold Cup. While it might not stop the nation like the Melbourne Cup, excitement has been building around the MTC. Today’s always been a favourite of Mangoplah’s Kerry Lloyd.
3.55PM: Champion jockey Glen Boss has added another win to his collection, riding home Statton for Peter Mooney in the six race of the Wagga Gold Cup.
3.15PM: It’s Waga’s biggest race day and it’s certainly busy, if you missed out on getting down to the MTC, our journalist Brodie Owen can show you just how busy it actually is.
3PM: Heywood-owned Leucura stormed home in just over 57 seconds to win race four.
2.20PM: Trainer Tim Martin has thanked the heavens after his horse Heavens Above came home for a win at $2.30. It took the entire straight to win, but it bodes well for Martin ahead of the Scone Guineas.
2.15PM: While we wait for race four, there’s contest for fashions on the field is becoming pretty fierce.
2.00PM: Race three has been won by Poncherello followed by Night on Fire, Fircely Defiant and Nriangi. Poncherello won in 77 seconds.
1.55PM: We asked five racegoers what they thought was the best part of Wagga’s biggest racing day. What do you think is the best part?
1.45PM: And here’s the proof – some of the gents contesting the Man of the Day title.
1.40PM: The first fashions on the field events are under way!
1.35PM: The first of our photos are coming in. Les Smith has sent back this shot of Danny Beasley on board Angus Rock passing the post to take out the first race of the day earlier.

First up in fashions on the field are the Man of the Day and Stylish Couple.
1.10PM: In racing news, champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller is keen to make today’s Wagga Gold Cup his own.
Waller got his first taste of Wagga Gold Cup success when he trained the quinella in last year’s event and it has driven him to return and make the race his own.
A funeral will prevent Waller from making his way to Wagga for the Cup but he is confident his two representatives, Trade Commissioner and Our Voodoo Prince, can make a mark.
1.05pm: Who are you backing in Race 2?
12.50PM: And here’s Race 1.
12.40PM: While we wait for the first race to get under way, take a look through the snaps from yesterday’s successful Town Plate Day. The full gallery is here.
