WAGGA’S basketballers enjoyed mixed success taking on Queanbeyan at Bolton Park Stadium on Saturday.
The Blaze started well, leading by two points at half time, but couldn’t keep the momentum going in the second half.
The Blaze trailed the Yowies 48-44 going into the last quarter, setting up a nailbiting finish.
There was nothing between the two teams all night, but Queanbeyan were determined to come away with the win as the Blaze fell 59-54.
The Heat enjoyed better luck with a come from behind win against the Yowies.
Down by four points at quarter time, the Heat continued to reduce the margin throughout the game.
Trailing the Wagga team packed a powerful finish as the Yowies got into foul trouble.
With scores locked at 61-all at three-quarter time the Heat turned it on late to score a 84-73 win.
