Narrandera is doing its bit to educate and remind us of the bravery and sacrifices of young men and women, past and present, who surrender their youth, in many instances their lives, to enable us to live free and prosperously in our home country.
The business community has done a thoughtful and wonderful job when devoting window shopfronts to our serving defence forces at home and abroad.
They have created reverent, contemplative and moving tributes which stop us in our tracks, to read and absorb the proud history of serving men and women of our shire.
School children retell the Anzac story as only they can, then front up in their school uniforms to march for those who can’t.
Many in our town marvel at the ease with which our young people assume responsibility for significant roles in Anzac Day memorial services, thus allowing the less youthful to immerse themselves fully in remembrances and memories in honour.
In addition to supporting Anzac services as they always do, the broader community has been working on other projects to mark the centenary.
Sunshine is a full-length musical theatre production – a tribute to the Anzacs - based on a Narrandera war time story.
This marvellous production, written and produced locally, showcases Narrandera talent in all its facets.
Limited, reserved seating is available through Narrandera RSL sub-branch.
The show starts 7pm in the CRC Theatre and will run Friday, April 24 and Saturday, 25 only.
Bookings are essential.
The Narrandera Camera Club/Rotary Riverina photographic exhibition will be open over the Anzac weekend in CRC Plaza Hall in Bolton Street.
Categories include Anzac remembrance, wildlife, landscape, macro (close-up), open and open 16 years.
We are a lucky country.
