HELICOPTERS and police motorbikes were integral in the desperate search to locate the body of missing Leeton bride-to-be Stephanie Scott, 26, police say.
Superintendent Michael Rowan confirmed police had deployed a number of tactics to find a body, that police “certainly believe” is Ms Scott’s, 70 kilometres north of Griffith.
Superintendent Rowan said a number of reported sightings had led police to area.
The family of alleged murderer Vincent Stanford, 24, have been co-operating with police during the search.
Fairfax Media reported the bushland area was a spot where the Stanford family regularly camped.
Superintendent Rowan confirmed the remains had been burnt and were located five kilometres from the roadside.
He said the remains would be transferred to Glebe, formally identified and examined by forensic police.
The family of Ms Scott will honour their daughter today, on what should have been her wedding day, with a community picnic in Mountford Park, Leeton.
