Also, could a few crumbs be put into widening the Marshalls Creek bridge to the width of the rest of the road in East Wagga (Sturt Highway). It is an accident waiting to happen.

A very different account of unions and war
THERE is a well written, true account of the Union movement and the atrocities they conduct to slow the war effort by the Allies during World War II. All ALP politicians and their followers should read this book and hang their heads in shame and condemn all militant unions. This book should be placed in all high schools and read by all students in year 7 and above to learn the truth about unions first-hand, not the version being peddled by the ALP. The book is titled Australia’s Secret War and written by Hal GP Colebatch and first published in 2013.

Please, don’t believe the misleading “facts”
I WOULD like to thank Paul Bosman for at least attempting to talk about election issues in his contribution to this page on February 28. I would however urge him to read Greens policy for what it actually says, rather than rely on misleading slogans put into the public domain by our opponents.
Mr Bosman’s contribution raises too many issues to respond to all of them individually. Indeed some of them such as, our support for women’s right to choice, and a framework to support terminally ill people that are in great pain to make an informed choice to end their life in peace and with dignity at a time of their choosing, have been well canvassed in letters to the editor previously.
I will however respond to Mr Bosman’s comments on the Greens Drug Regulation and Harm Minimisation policy as there has been a history of misinformation and confusion in the community in relation to this. The abuse of drugs is quite rightly a matter of great concern in our community.
We have seen many media stories about increasing use and the risks posed to essential service providers, and the general community, that result from this. The traditional hard line law enforcement approach has done nothing to stem this tide.
Greens policy is to attack the problem with education and rehabilitation, directing offenders to early referral and treatment programs, rather than perpetuating and escalating the cycle of drug abuse and crime through law and order measures.
It is important to remember that abusers of drugs, including alcohol are also victims of this trade. Families of those addicted to alcohol and drugs are also victims and their distress can be compounded as their loved ones become part of the legal system rather than being assisted with rehabilitation and medical support.
The Greens believe it is important to educate our community about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, particularly in groups with high vulnerability, and to assist those who have fallen victim to such abuse to regain control of their lives through rehabilitation programs. We believe it is time to address the problem with a sophisticated and evidence based approach rather than election slogans with no substance behind them.
