She stated that people can “shop around” if their fund charges the full increase.
Perhaps rules have changed but I understand that the issue of “pre existing” conditions may still apply.
Anyone thinking of changing should read the fine print very carefully since the rebate on premiums still applies.
That will mean that the amount paid by the government will increase as it is a percentage of premiums.
How much will that rebate add to the budget bottom line?
As far as I know that figure has not been made public.

offensive material is not an Australian value
ONE of the antique shops in Yackandandah has two articles on display that I found offensive.
I commented to my husband about the first and queried the shopkeeper on the second.
He had set up the second.
I stalled on exposing this – believing people have a perfect right to choose for themselves, even if some find their choices offensive.
My thinking is, if you are not hurting anyone else it’s no one else’s business.
Unlike cowards who put anonymous sights on the internet and use anonymous monikers, I own my words.
Even though the last 10 years I have put up with rumours, below par service, overcharging and tapping, knocking and assorted noises that disturb my sleep, I will never stay silent about abuse or items representing abuse.
The first article was a Nazi flag, prominently hanging from the ceiling as you enter the store.
The flag represents a megalomaniac who tried to take over the world by force, and killed whomever he considered inferior, en masse.
The second item was a naked baby doll with a cigarette in her mouth.
When coupled with the cigarette in her mouth, I truly wondered what was being displayed.
Do I really have no sense of humour about this or is there none to be had?
There were a few stories a few years back in The Daily Advertiser about a Ku Klux Klan-type group setting up via a mail drop in our area.
Are there really people in Australia who believe in the principles of Nazis or the Klan?
If so, isn’t it only a matter of scale between both these and IS?
My Australian values tell me if you intentionally harm someone physically or emotionally, unless directly protecting a life, you are mentally ill or you don’t have any values.

What happened to a fair go at the petrol pump?
WELL, Woolies have dropped their unleaded petrol price back to 123.7 cents per litre whereas they had put it up to 133.9 cpl on Tuesday.
Was this a pricing error?
How many motorists got caught?
Can they get a refund?
At least two service stations (Lake Albert Road and Lake Village) were still displaying 133.9 cpl at 10.15am on Wednesday.
What a mess petrol prices are in Wagga and no one seems to be able to do anything about it.
What happened to the good old Aussie "fair go mate!"
