Despite losing three more games than Wagga City, two outright wins saw the Blues earn more points throughout the season and finish on top.
The two teams will clash on Saturday, and South Wagga captain Joel Robinson is happy with how the team is ahead of the finals.
“We are really coming off a big couple of games and it got the ball rolling and we are really confident coming into these last few games,” Robinson said.
After declaring their first innings at 9-194, the Colts made 148 in reply.
In trouble at 8-84, Harry Perryman (33 not out) and Keenan Hanigan (23) put on 59 for the ninth wicket to boost the Colt’s effort.
Mitch Sykes was the best of the Blues’s bowlers, claiming four wickets.
Robinson’s 56-year-old father Brian picked up three wickets in his first first grade match of the season, which will pose a few selection headaches next week.
With Kooringal searching for more points, South Wagga started their second innings and were 6-105 when played ended.
Jeremy Rowe topped scored with 39 while Dave Bolton picked up 4-17 off his six overs.
The Colts will need to regroup heading into their must-win semi-final against Wagga RSL next weekend.
