Labor has pledged to streamline red tape for charities.
NSW charities must currently register with state government authorities if they wish to collect donations and receive tax concessions.
They must be listed under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
NSW joins the ACT and South Australia on the national framework, which was established by the federal Labor party.
“To now be eligible for state concessions by registering with ACNC allows us to focus on providing charitable services to the community,” Labor candidate for Wagga Dan Hayes said.
“This scheme is a simple policy that has a big impact for those working in the charitable and not-for-profit sector.”
A total of 18,000 charities are expected to benefit from the commitment.
