WEST Wyalong captain Brett Davies is confident he has the team to come to Wagga and bring home the O’Farrell Cup on Sunday.
Wagga has gone through the last two O’Farrell Cup seasons undefeated and are just one win away from keeping the prized possession over winter.
However the Lake Albert all-rounder believes he’ll be the one drinking from the cup at Robertson Oval.
“We’ve got the best side we’ve ever had,” Davies said.
"We are extremely strong and prepped and ready to take the cup off them.
“We’ve got some boys who are very proud of West Wyalong, they have the experience and love representing the town.”
Davies was confident coming into the last season’s challenge, but West Wyalong were rolled for 73 and lost by eight wickets.
However, Davies not only believes this year’s team in stronger but that his team was “shafted” last time.
“The wicket was under-prepared last year, we got sent in on a wicket you wouldn’t play on normally and got a few dodgy decisions from one end,” Davies said.
“In saying that all is forgotten and we are coming back firing and ready to rock.”
Davies has split his time between playing with the Bulls in Wagga and in West Wyalong’s competition this season.
He isn’t the only player familiar with Wagga’s conditions with teammate Jesse Hampton in the team as well as St Michaels pair Chase Grintell and Rhys Lloyd.
He believes that experience will be a big advantage.
In another positive for West Wyalong, Wagga will be without Jon Nicoll.
The reigning Brian Lawrence medallist has played in most O’Farrell Cup matches this season, but is unavailable for the clash.
Wagga RSL skipper returns to the O’Farrell Cup fold for Nicoll.
Wagga will also send out a strong team then they did when the two teams met last year.
However Davies believes his team matches up well against Wagga’s outfit.
