MASTER coach Shane Lenon has started his time at Lockhart with three quality signings that he hopes can help the Demons' return to the Hume League finals.
Lockhart will welcome Tom Alexander and Shannon Williams back to the Demons, while it has also added North Wagga's Jesse Margosis to its list for the upcoming season.
Alexander returns from Belconnen where he played 16 games with the Magpies' North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) team.
Williams and Margosis are both Farrer League representatives.
Williams, a Lockhart junior, spent the past six years with Marrar and took out the Bombers' best and fairest last season.
Margosis was named best on ground for Farrer League in its representative fixture against Ovens and King League this year.
Lenon was happy to bolster Lockhart's midfield.
"For sure, all three can go through the midfield," Lenon said.
"Tom comes back after a playing at a higher level, while the other two are Farrer League representatives.
"Slowie (Williams) won Marrar's best and fairest this year and I don't care what level it's at, to win a best and fairest is a pretty good effort."
In further good signs for Lockhart, best and fairest winner Zac Sheather has re-signed for next season.
The Demons have also retained forward John Hoey, despite attention from other clubs.
Lockhart will also persevere with David Trotter, a Demons junior, who signed for this year but his season was ruined by injury.
The only confirmed departure, to this stage, is Nathan McPherson.
The Azzi Medallist will return to Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong (GGGM) next year.
Importantly with the Hume League's player points system, Williams and Alexander will not accrue any points because they are Lockhart juniors.
Lenon was happy to get Alexander and Williams back to the club.
"Duck eggs, you don't want them playing cricket but in this system, that's exactly what you want," he said.
"That's been a focus, two get two ex-juniors, ex-locals, back to the club.
"Both come back after playing good footy elsewhere.
"We've certainly approached all our ex-locals to try and get them back to the club."
Meantime, the return of McPherson is good news for GGGM.
The return comes on the back of the re-signing of Curtis Steele, who was heavily pursued by a number of Riverina clubs.
