THE Rock-Yerong Creek has landed its first recruitment coup of the off-season with the signing of Collingullie-Ashmont-Kapooka premiership player Josh Meiselbach for next season.
TRYC president Gavin Hofert announced the signature of Meiselbach on Friday as the Magpies start their climb back towards the top of the Farrer League tree.
Meiselbach joins TRYC after eight seasons at Crossroads Oval where he was an integral part of CAK's three consecutive Farrer League premierships from 2008 to 2010, and this year's breakthrough Riverina Football League flag.
The 26-year-old returns to TRYC where he played junior football, before linking with Wagga Tigers in the under 18 AFL Canberra competition.
Hofert is thrilled to welcome Meiselbach back to the Magpies.
"He's an ex-The Rock-Yerong Creek junior and he's always been keen to come back," Hofert said.
"It's good for us because he's a handy player obviously and can help out in three or four different positions."
Meiselbach only played seven first grade games for CAK this season as he struggled to commit completely to the Demons early, while also enjoying a trip overseas.
He may have only played seven games but played an instrumental part in the Demons' premiership.
Meiselbach showed his versatility by going to defence against Coolamon to shut down Joe Redfern, then switched back to centre-half-forward for the grand final.
The Magpies are keen to play Meiselbach in defence.
"We're thinking probably centre-half-back at the moment," Hofert said.
"Young Tim Hahn is our ruckman and we'll rely on him a bit while also using Luke Hillier through there as well.
"You can swing Josh forward, or swing him into the ruck or wherever you need him."
The signing is the first of what could be many for TRYC and coach David Pieper.
Hofert said the club was committed to returning to the top of the tree.
"It was a pretty big focus at the end of last year to get us back up where The Rock belong," Hofert said.
"Finals footy will be the start of that and we think we're on the right path with that."
Meantime, three Farrer League clubs are yet to announce their coach for the upcoming season.
Farrer League premier Temora, Northern Jets and Charles Sturt University are still in the process of announcing their season coach for the 2015 season.
