The traffic authority expects traffic near Wagga City Golf Club to be diverted until "at least 6.30pm".
Wagga police said they are investigating the cause of the truck rollover at the corner of the Sturt and Olympic highways, which has caused a chemical spill.
A 31-year-old male was the sole occupant of the truck carrying farming supplies and herbicides, duty officer Inspector Stephen Radford said.
He said he sustained minor injuries.
Emergency services personnel including HAZMAT and a heavy vehicle inspector attended the accident.
1.22pm: A spokesman at Turvey Park fire station believes the clean-up will be an "ongoing incident", with diversions expected to remain in place for most of the day.

It is believed about 1000 litres of a weed-killing herbicide has been spilled.
Fire and Rescue NSW have laid down containment lines at a nearby creek to prevent contamination.
12.20pm: Police have blocked off the Sturt Highway near the Wagga City Golf Club as firefighters work to contain a chemical spill caused by a truck rollover.
According to Fire and Rescue NSW, a 100 metre exclusion zone has been established around the accident at the intersection of the Sturt and Olympic highways.
A nearby creek has been bunded to prevent contamination.
The male occupant of the truck escaped uninjured and was seen being interviewed by police.
His truck, believed to be carrying farming supplies, ran off the road and flipped on its roof shortly before 10.30am.
Heavy traffic is expected as vehicles are diverted away from the accident.
Emergency services including police, Fire and Rescue, the Rural Fire Service and paramedics, called as a precaution, were at the scene.
Council officers are also in attendance.
