The unenviable title of first housemate to be evicted this season went to West Australian Gemma Kinghorn, after the other housemates were forced to choose between her and her playing partner, Jake.
Sandra, 36, and her playing partner, David, received the second lowest save votes out of the four pairs up for nomination.
"I think she would have been a bit down if she was the first out."

Sandra and David received 36 per cent of the votes to save - and would have been next in line for eviction.
Sandra's father, Peter Nixon, said he was "relieved" Sandra was saved.
"I think she would have been a bit down if she was the first out," he said.
On Thursday, the housemates will nominate as individuals for the first time this series, ending Big Brother's partnership twist.
Mr Nixon said he was hopeful Sandra would be able to grab the spotlight more, allowing her personality to show, but in the end "you only get to see what the producer wants to put on there".
"I think being on her own she'll have more of an opportunity to do what she wants."
Sandra is known in Wagga for her sporting success with softball club Kooringal, and was working as a manager at Wagga's Bonds store prior to entering the competition.
Sandra is the fourth Wagga housemate to compete in the Big Brother series over its 13-year history in Australia.
