* The Gobba Bridge project team incorporating council and Roads and Traffic Authority staff has recommended against including a cycling-pedestrian lane on the new bridge, estimated to cost $3.4m plus another $320,000 to widen approach roads.
* Kooringal Public School students raised $419 for Stewart House which was presented to school principal, Bruce McAlister, by Nadine McNamara and Luke Moloney.
* Council’s growth and tourism committee will further explore a concept to transport patrons of an envisaged Willan’s Hill restaurant from the Botanic Gardens car park at the bottom of the hill by a horse-drawn carriage.
* Mr Tony Matthew has been appointed secretary-manager of the Riverina Australian Football Club.
* The Riverina Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Dependence will continue providing services from Phoenix Hall in Baylis Street, said Foundation chairman John Bowman, notwithstanding a recent announcement that state government funding of $60,000 for the centre would be transferred to Wagga Base Hospital.
* A shortage of regular members has put the Wagga Eisteddfod in danger of being unable to proceed after its 69th annual festival this year, according to society president, Keith Radford.
* Trevor White has won the David Mumford Memorial Trophy for being Wagga Men’s Hockey Association A grade best and fairest player this season.
* The Mayor of Wagga, Alderman Ron Harris unveiled a plaque marking the official opening of the new railway overpass connecting Pearson Street and Glenfield Road.

* World famous honky-tonk and concert pianist Winifred Atwell will make a total of three appearances in Wagga this week at the Civic Theatre. She is touring 110 towns over six months in this her third tour of Australian country towns and brings with her a wardrobe valued at more than £3000.
* Manager of the David Jones store in Wagga, Mr John Griffiths has been appointed as manager of the company’s Newcastle store and will be replaced by Mr R Kelly from Sydney.
* The Wagga District Council of the Australian Primary Producers Union will oppose in principle the installation of parking meters in Wagga.
* President of Wagga Legacy, Mr John Woods, is pictured in The Daily Advertiser at the RSL Club with his wife.
* Work is starting on the construction of a £35,000 block of home units at the corner of Johnston and Trail streets.
* Mr and Mrs S Hale of Gormly Avenue celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Romano’s dinner dance.
* The Storekeepers’ section of the Wagga Chamber of Commerce will recommend that all Wagga stores close for the afternoon of the Wagga Show.
