With Tumut falling to Waratahs and CSU earning a bonus point in their loss to Griffith, what could have been a season-defining game for both teams tomorrow has a very different feel.
Both teams have struggled in the premier division, recording a win each over Ag College, but stronger early season form secured CSU a place in the top four.
The Bulls haven't been victors since July 5, but with an elimination game against Ag College approaching coach Tim Graham to looking to get the winning feeling back into the club.
"Now we are out of the top four, we are just looking to get a win to build some momentum going into the second division finals," he said.
CSU had a 11-point win when in two teams met in round five, but with a number of changes to the team since that game and with home ground advantage
"CSU are the same us in only winning one game after the split, so I think this weekend we should be in with a good shot at winning at home," Graham said.
"It's just disappointing that we are one or two points far away to make it.
"We've had a pretty good record at home this year so it's definitely an advantage for us."
Tumut also won't be at full strength with Jock Mason and Rod Lucas picking up injuries against Waratahs while Lourens de Beer has returned to South Africa for a holiday.
Mason's knee and Lucas' shoulder injuries pose a big problem for the Bulls scrum, who will now be without two regulars in the front row.
Despite being a few down, Graham is confident the scrumagging effort won't be too affected.
"Rivcoll haven't got an overly strong scrum so I think we should be able to manoeuvre a few guys and still be alright in the scrum," he said.
