Yesterday, a Wagga City Council (WCC) report due to be presented to the Southern Region Joint Planning Panel next month revealed a complete overhaul of the current mall, with key features including 24 extra shops, a multi-level car park and the construction of a massive 4200sqm Coles supermarket.
The Advertiser contacted the development applicant Equity Development Management Pty Ltd for comment but they did not respond.
It is believed the works will commence within 12 months of approval.
The designs reveal coloured concrete panel walls effectively creating a chequered pattern on the building's exterior wall.
Construction will be split into four stages, starting with the car park, which will be increased from 595 spaces to 663 spaces, with construction of new car park levels with access from Berry and Tompson Street.
Stage two will see construction over the central car park and stage three will see construction of the resized Coles supermarket.
Stage four will see the extension of the current façade.
Colby Farmer, council manager of development services, said the complex plans have been assessed for the past four months.
"(It) took approximately four months to assess the application which includes the time it took the applicant to respond to council's information request and the advertising period," he said.
The report will be discussed on February 7, along with two other applications including a three-storey medical centre with a basement car park in Docker Street and the expansion of an Exhibition Centre in Copland Street.
