Well-known for the multitude of caring services it provides to all sectors of need in the community, the Salvation Army has recognised a need to create a greater awareness about the importance of a professionally drafted will.
The Salvation Army Wagga, which has been serving the local community for 127 years, is organising a Community Wills Day on Thursday September 19 at the Wagga RSL Club.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to have simple wills drafted by volunteer solicitors in return for a donation of $50 to assist the Salvation Army continue its community work.
Coordinator of the program, Glen Evans hopes Wagga residents will embrace the event and the importance of having a will written.
“Making a will is a must,” he said.
“It’s your opportunity to have the last say about what you want done with your possessions after you’ve gone.
“A Will provides the best opportunity to ensure your wishes are fulfilled.’
Lieutenant Marco Lupis, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army, Wagga praised local solicitors for supporting the project.
“The Salvation Army is most grateful to the volunteer solicitors for giving of their time to assist at the Wagga Community Wills Day and we highly value the long term relationship with Wagga RSL Club which is allowing us to hold the event at their facilities,” he said.
Donations received on the day will be directed to the Salvos local Community Welfare Centre which assists local residents in need.
Appointments for the Community Wills Day are necessary and can be obtained by phoning Rosemary on 1800 337 082 between the hours of 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
