COLEAMBALLY coach Andrew McGown wants no excuses in his push to move the club off the bottom of the Farrer League ladder.
The Blues have spent two years in the cellar since moving across from the Hume League and McGown says it just isn't good enough.
"I'm not going to say anything like we will win the comp this year, but we want to make finals," McGown said.
"We have been very disappointed with the past two years.
"To go from winning a fair share of games in the Hume League we thought we would at least be playing finals in the Farrer.
"To finish bottom of the table two years in a row is very disappointing, and it makes it hard to attract players to the club when we are out on our own as it is."
The team should be bolstered by the likely return of McGown to the field, who has been plagued with knee injuries for the past two seasons.
McGown went under the knife last year and has been back to Melbourne since in an effort to prolong his football career.
"I went back to Melbourne in November and the surgeon was happy with it," he said.
"I've been training flat out so fingers crossed I can get through the season."
McGown is also hoping forward-midfielder Jack Painting makes himself available to play this season after taking last year off to focus on his career training and driving pacers.
The only real loss is young Cody O'Malley who has moved to Leeton for work.
Talented ruckman and 2011 Gerald Clear Medallist Ryan Bull is in doubt to play as he recovers from a shoulder operation.
Bull missed the majority of last season with an ankle injury.
McGown is hopeful of snagging a couple of small midfielders before the season starts.
"We have a couple of young blokes who have been training with us, they just haven't signed yet," he said.
"They are those small onball-types we have been looking for so hopefully we get those names on paper soon."
Coleambally started training a fortnight ago and McGown is happy with the numbers turning up.
He is trying to organise a trial game before kicking off the Blues season against North Wagga on April 20.
