NEW Marrar coach Clint Taylor has set his sights on a top-three finish this Farrer League season.
The Bombers dropped to be fourth on the ladder after 16 rounds for the first time in four years last season, however still managed to win consecutive finals and were bundled out in the preliminary final.
Under old coach Dean Howard they made three straight grand finals after finishing third (2009), second (2010) and first (2011) before he handed the reins to Danny Malone for the 2012 season.
Taylor has returned to Langtry Oval from Ganmain-Grong Grong-Mating and is focused on returning Marrar to the competition's top three.
"We haven't sat down and talked about what we want to achieve yet," Taylor said.
"We will probably sit down a couple of weeks before our trial games and map out a few goals for the season.
"We would at least want to finish top three and give ourselves two chances at finals."
The Bombers will attack the Farrer League season with a similar list to last year but have added Andrew Higginson and Jake Robinson to the squad.
Higginson will return to the midfield after spending a season at Tumbarumba while Robinson will act as a second ruckman to partner Shannon Williams and will spend time in the forward line.
Andrew Gunsser is also back training with the team after missing all last season with a knee injury.
"We've added those three definites which will really boost the side," Taylor said.
"Hopefully Gunss can stay injury-free and have a big season.
"We still have a couple of guys in the pipeline who would be definite first graders but I'm still waiting to hear from them."
Higginson, Robinson and Gunsser all joined in Marrar's first pre-season run on Tuesday where Taylor put the players to work with a mixture of running and ball skills.
He said there were "six or seven first graders" missing from the pack but was happy with the numbers.
Marrar has lined up two pre-season trial games, playing GGGM on March 23 and Tumbarumba on April 5.
The Bombers will kick off their season proper with a night game at Robertson Oval against 2012 grand finalist The Rock-Yerong Creek on Friday, April 19.
