It follows an ongoing dispute between Wagga City Council and various aircraft advocacy organisations including the Wagga City Aero Club and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia.
Concerns have been raised over proposed fee hikes with WACA president Geoff Breust and former Lockhart councillor Jim Morgan labelling increased costs a “deterrent” for visiting pilots.
Though a resolution is yet to be made, council general manager Peter Thompson gave assurances that medical aircraft services such as Angel Fights and Care Flight would not be charged.
“As per Council’s Revenue and Pricing Policy 2017/18, Angel Flights, Care Flight and other not-for-profit charitable organisation flights are exempt from airport charges,” he said.
“The proposed new airport-related fees and charges will not impact this.”
