“Mick Humphries Training Group’s (MHTG) flagship product is truck training and assessing,” owner Trevor Heath said.
With a passion for Kenworth SARS the MHTG fleet are easily recognised around the town.
“We like to see the smile on our customers faces when they see the trucks we use for training,” he said.
Trevor believes training drivers to operate heavy vehicles requires more than the impartation of expert knowledge and skills.
“Drivers should also be instructed on being professionally minded,” Mr Heath said.
This feature is supported by:
“Just like a professional footballer relies not only on skill but also prepares mentally for the game our truck drivers need to think like professionals and prepare mentally for the challenge they will face on the roads.
“Organisations planning staff training and development should consider this an important aspect of their programs.
“Thinking professionally is about attitude and the role attitude plays in the operator's performance.
“Thinking about the impact you have on other road users helps the operator drive in a courteous and trustworthy manner, adhering to safe operating procedures while allowing for the unpredictability of other drivers.”
Mr Heath said this approach is often overlooked during training. MHTG include this in training and continuously modify training to ensure clients and the community are kept safe.
