President of the Wagga RSL sub-branch Kevin Kerr said the Wagga community gave strong support to this year's Poppy Day campaign - raising funds to help support the service men and women and their families.
"I take my hat off to the people of Wagga as they seem to really understand it," Mr Kerr said.
He said he was pleased to see the meaning of Remembrance Day has been passed down to the younger generations with both the younger and older residents not only wearing their poppies with pride, but also pitching in to see the fund-raiser thrive.
A memorial service will be held at the cenotaph at the Victory Memorial Gardens from 10.40am before the Last Post at 11am.
NSW state president of the Returned and Services League of Australia Don Rowe said after more than 93 years of conflict following WWI and the recent 32 deaths in Afghanistan, it is important to acknowledge the loss and sadness.
"It only takes a moment for us all to stop what we're doing, to pause, and to reflect on the lives that have been lost and to honour those whose lives are still at risk in the service of their country," Mr Rowe said.
