The troublesome trotter was let loose on the streets of Glenfield Park, prompting police and council rangers to attempt a catch.
Bemused onlookers described a comic scene while others made quips about the sheer size of the pig.
"The cops ... came over the scanner and advised Wagga 81 to fire up the BBQ for pork chops for dinner," one resident posted on Facebook.
"I thought I was seeing things when I seen (sic) three people chasing it and a cop just standing awkwardly watching ... I nearly crashed from laughing," said another person.
The pig was seen roaming Goborra and Naretha streets Thursday night and is believed to be a domestic pet which escaped a backyard.
It caught the attention of many people who took to social media for a running commentary.
"Looks like my ex has gone for an afternoon stroll," wrote one person.
"Did you hear? George Clooney's in town," said another.
Witnesses later reported the pig was safely captured and returned to its owner.
