Mr Hoerler, who was recently announced as the 2018 Wagga NAIDOC Young Person of the Year, will be joining the college’s 10-week ‘Foundation Basics and Cultural Expressions’ program.
“I love every opportunity I get – whenever something pops up, I’m happy to chat,” Mr Hoerler said.
“I used to go there when I was younger to do art courses, so it’d be really awesome to teach now.
“It’s also just about opening doors.”

The 10-week course will end with an art exhibition of the students’ works.
Course coordinator Cheryl Cartwright said she and the team looked forward to incorporating Mr Hoerler’s artwork into the program.
“It’s quite an exciting collaboration, especially with his reputation as a young emerging artist,” Ms Cartwright said.
“His main goal is to be a role model and mentor, so for him to be able to do that here, it’s good for him and us.”
During the classes, Ms Cartwright will lead the morning sessions in foundation skills, such as numeracy, communications and reading.
“We’ll do it from an artist’s perspective,” Ms Cartwright said.
“Tyronne will be working alongside student support.
“Then in the afternoon, he’ll be leading drawing and painting sessions.”
There will also be discussions and lessons about Indigenous artwork and stories, including how students may express stories via artworks that are culturally appropriate.
The program begins this week.
