Started by renown film critics David Stratton in 1974, tours to 18 regional locations year-round, including six Queensland centres, nine in New South Wales and three in the Northern Territory.
Festival manager Karina Libbey said she was excited to bring the TFF back to Wagga.
“It’s a really busy time for us but we can’t wait to launch in Wagga on Friday,” she said.
Ms Libbey said the festival was driven by a cultural necessity to share arthouse cinema with regional areas.
“The idea behind the festival is to showcase a lot of arthouse feature films that often wouldn’t be shown out in places like Wagga,” she said.
Now entering its 44th year, the TFF remains a beacon for budding filmmakers.
“A lot of filmmakers based regionally get experience in short films and get exposure this way,” Ms Libbery said.
“It’s a really tight-knit community, the film world.”
