It comes after Wagga City Council resolved to assess the condition of the indoor tiles at the Oasis Aquatics Centre.
Following a confidential council report into the facility, commercial operations director Caroline Angel said the tiles had “reached the end of their useful life” and needed replacing.
“Council is currently in the initial design stage of this project and project costs are still being assessed’ she said.
“The time frame of the project will depend on the remediation process, which is yet to be finalised.”
Ms Angel stressed the project was not being considered as a result of current damages.
Senior lifeguard Phil Stone estimated the project would begin around April.
