The NSW Department of Education is choosing between four names for the so-called super school – the merger between Griffith High and Wade High, due to commence in 2019.
“Griffith City High” was the preferred choice by 50 per cent of respondents to the poll – equal to all three other options combined.
“Burley Griffin High” was chosen by 20 per cent, “Murrumbidgee High” by 16 per cent and "Kidman High” by 14 per cent.
Schoolie McSchoolface, a name suggested by an anonymous Facebook page, was not among the Department’s shortlist.
The Department is also choosing between names for each of the two school sites, where Griffith High and Wade High are currently located. Options being considered are:
- Burley and Griffin
- East and West,
- Coolah Street and Poole Street,
- Wade and Burley Griffin; and
- Wade and Griffith
The Department said they will make a name recommendation to be considered by the Minister for Education.
It is anticipated that the new school name will be announced early in 2018.
