The six-year-old made it back-to-back wins at Wagga on Tuesday night after displaying an impressive finishing burst.
Trapped along the pegs, Coolamon trainer-driver Ray Turner was able to extricate the son of Robin Hood at just the right time.
Barnsdale ($9.10) went on to defeat Strong Sensation ($10.80) by 1.3 metres.
He’s only missed a place in two of his seven starts for Turner after moving from Ray White’s stable.
The experienced horseman is pleased by how he’s progressing.
“He goes alright,” Turner said. “He’s not a bad horse really.”
Besides an eighth at Goulburn, Barnsdale found himself in the top four.
Turner believes luck has finally been on his side.
“He’s just been unlucky and two runs where he ran places he just didn’t get out,” he said.
“He should of won a race before this but hasn’t had a lot of luck in running.”
“I didn’t want to be on the fence, but we got sorta got pushed in there and had a bit of luck at the finish.
“Once he gets a clear spot he can get home pretty good.”
Barnsdale is set to race at Wagga’s next meeting on Saturday and Turner is confident of another strong showing.
