The representative team lost to Orana Outlaws by three runs in the semi-final at Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Three wickets each from Max Harper and Sam Perry put the team in a strong position after they restricted the Dubbo team to 9-127 from their 20 overs.

However their batsman could not back up their efforts as they failed to reel in the total to set up a clash with Newcastle Blasters in the final.

Captain Joel Robinson was left disappointed by how the chase unfolded.

“We fell away a little bit in the middle of the innings and they obviously bowled well,” Robinson said.

“It’s obviously disappointing but it is a good effort to make it here again and to get so close.”

Despite a fast start from Kurt Robertson (13) the Sloggers struggled to maintain the required down rate.

The Outlaws were starting to peg them back before Matt Berkrey (27) was run out.

Michael Mitchell (22) tried to restore the innings, but the Sloggers continued to lose momentum as the wickets fell and finished at 8-124.

“We were struggling to keep it ticking over but that happens,” Robinson said.

He was impressed by how well the bowling unit gelled together to ensure a more than chaseable target.

“Everyone bowled well so there is no complaints from there,” he said.

“We had different plans for different scenarios and everyone bowled in the right spots and did well.”
