A near full-strength Warriors side set up their win with a three-run opening innings as Jess Swaysland, Jayla Nix and Layhnee Kearnes all crossed the plate after some untidy fielding by Turvey Park.
Turvey Park made the score more respectable, when after being shut out in their first innings, managed to score two runs in the top of the second.
Julie-Ann Hallam and Jane Wadley were batted in by Amanda Lenon’s safe hit to left field.
When the Warriors were shut out in the bottom of the second, Turvey was back in business.
However, the Warriors soon asserted their hold on the game when they shut out Turvey in the top of the third and then doubled their score in the bottom of the third, with another three-run return.
Consecutive left-field hits saw Montana Kearnes, Simone Jorgensen and Kira Hallam all make the journey home.
Turvey again showed they were not finished, when they added two runs to their tally in the top of the fourth, making the score 6-4.
Good fielding by both sides prevented any further score for the remainder of the game, despite hits to Turvey’s Belinda Dennis and Amanda Gooden and the Warriors’ Shae Skillen and Jessica Swaysland in those final innings.
The game was highlighted by several good catches by Amanda Lenon, Amanda Gooden and Georgina Carter of Turvey Park and Sam O’Neill and Montana Kearnes of the Warriors.
The Saints, who had the bye on Saturday will meet Turvey Park and South Wagga Warriors in next week’s double-header.
