It is official: Stage two of the Wagga hospital redevelopment has been completed.

The official handover of the car park outside the front entrance to the Wagga Rural Referral Hospital took place on Friday.

Wagga Health Service director Helen Cooper said the front door, forecourt and car park of the health service campus were officially handed over by the builders, allowing the public to access the new car spaces and front entry.

“The completion of the front door and forecourt along with more parking spaces signals the end of stages 1 and 2 of the $282.1 million hospital redevelopment,” Ms Cooper said.

“This is a very exciting time for our patients, staff and the community and I would like to thank everyone for their patience.”

The first people to officially pass through the new entrance were Wagga’s Gary Johnson and Margaret Campbell.

Planning for stage 3 is under way with enabling works for stage 3 advancing quickly.
