Thunderstorms and hailstones mingled with revving engines and diesel fumes as event-goers braved the wild conditions in the name of mateship and non-sobriety.
Shaping a B&S was never going to be an easy task but event organiser Kelly Forrest is relishing the challenge.
“We decided to put this together about two years ago and started fully planning the event around 12 months ago,” she said.
“I’ve no idea about B&S’s but I’ve been working with my daughter and she’s been to 55 so she’s the know-it-all and I’m the person who puts it together.”
Legendary B&S figure Shane ‘Rippy’ Williams has make the trek across for the inaugural event and likes what he sees.
“It’s looking the goods out here, mate,” he said.
“The atmosphere’s been terrific and there was only a little hail earlier so blokes have been sliding around in the mud and having a good time.”
“The vibes are good and everyone’s been pretty well behaved so far.”
Ms Forrest said 600 had already passed through the gate by 4pm and more were enroute.
“We’ve still got people coming in and there’s music and acts all evening,” she said.
