Police say an argument broke out as the 45-year-old woman was driving them to Junee before a knife was produced.
“The male stabbed the female once in the abdominal area,” Wagga Inspector Peter McLay said. “She was later taken to Wagga Rural Referral Hospital where she was treated for her injuries which included not only the stab wound but also some abrasions and bruising to her head area.”
The man is now on the run and police are hoping for public assistance in finding him.
“It’s extremely concerning and it’s an extremely serious incident,” Inspector McLay said.
“White Ribbon Day is tomorrow and obviously police are taking a strong stand against domestic violence and that’s why we are keen to catch up with this individual sooner rather than later.”
