Firefighters from Turvey Park Fire Station were called to the scene just after 5am on Tuesday, to find the car was well alight.
Making matters worse, several explosions occurred as fire reached fuel lines and containers, while the car’s horn blared loudly, waking neighbours.
“It took us about 15 minutes to put it out,” senior firefighter Noel Barrington said.
The regularity of car fires in Wagga has caused firefighters concern due to the potential danger and environmental damage, and the blatant disregard some have for other people’s belongings.
“One car on average every three days; it’s becoming a habit for them, and so it’s now a habit for us,” Mr Barrington said.
Neighbours say they were woken by the car’s horn which blared throughout as the firefighters tried to douse the flames.
An investigation has been launched into the fire to determine those responsible.
