Nahema was transferred to Donnelly’s stable in a bid to find some wet tracks but that is yet to happen.
It has not stopped the success though as she has recorded two wins and a gallant second from three runs, across two states.
Nahema will contest the $40,000 Benchmark 73 Fillies & Mares Handicap (1550m) with in-form apprentice Rebeka Prest to ride.
“It’s an even sort of race,” Donnelly said.
“She would have loved a wet track. She was sent to me looking for wet tracks but we haven’t found one yet.
“She’s going really well, she should be three from three, her form’s good and she’s honest and tough.”
Prest’s three kilogram metropolitan claim helps Nahema get in with 56kg from barrier three.
A win at Canterbury on Wednesday would see Donnelly look towards next month’s Ted Ryder Cup (1600m) at Wagga for Nahema.
Otherwise, she is likely to spell.
Nahema started her career in New Zealand with Stephen Marsh where she was placed at group two level as a two-year-old.
She was then transferred to Robert Pearse at Randwick, where she had 23 runs before moving to Donnelly in September.
