A search is ongoing for 29-year-old Jimmaley Boney, who police say entered the Docker Street Caltex on Tuesday, November 7 just after 10.45pm.
The video shows a man entering the service station brandishing the machete, before hitting a product stand and threatening the employee.
A delivery man is seen escaping the premises.
“An application was made to the local court for an arrest warrant to be issued for nine offences relating to that armed robbery with the person being identified as being 29-year-old Jimmaley Boney,” Detective Inspector Darren Cloake said.
The offences related to two counts of armed robbery, two police pursuits, one relating to a stolen car, plus using a weapon to avoid apprehension and armed with intent.
“This young lady was severely traumatised by this incident and was chased from the shop,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
“She sought refuge in a customer’s car before Boney then directed his attention towards another male that was inside the shop at the time.
“A number of items were stolen including keys, wallet and personal belongings of the male victim.”
Police said Boney then stole a green Mazda belonging to the male customer, which was later used to ram two police who were searching for him at a premises in Callaghan Street, Ashmont.
“Police will allege that he actually drove at police through some locked gates and made good his escape. That vehicle was later located down near Thorne Street,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
Police said the man arrived at the Caltex in a white Commodore, which had been stolen from Lockhart, but was found burnt out in Mortimer Place.
It is believed Boney is still in Wagga as he has been sighted in both the central and Ashmont areas.
“We ask that people do not approach him. He is considered both armed and dangerous,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
“Obviously the violence inflicted upon this young lady at the time was, again, traumatising so we just encourage people to call Triple O or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
Police said they recovered the handle of the machete used in the attack along with other items.
Police have been in constant contact with the 19-year-old woman and her family and said that she has returned to the workforce in a limited capacity.
The Caltex Service Station where the woman worked underwent a police safety audit and management have agreed to implement some changes.
