Coolamon raised the idea of changing the under 17 competition to under 17 and a half, next year, similar to the Farrer League, at the delegates meeting this week.
The move would allow footballers that turn 18 in the second half of the year remain eligible for the under 17 competition.
Clubs are to provide their projected numbers to AFL Riverina football operations manager Shane Buchanan by Monday before a decision is made.
