Kahlefeldt has been chosen to carry the Queen’s baton in the 33-day relay in the lead up to next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Kahlefeldt, then a 26-year-old, won the gold medal in the men’s triathlon at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
“It's a huge honour to be selected to carry the Queens baton,” Kahlefeldt said.
“I have some great memories from 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and looking forward to watching next year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.”
Kahlefeldt’s leg will be in Noosa, on March 26 next year.
Kahlefeldt is one of a number of Riverina people to receive the honour.
