Custom builds and design is the bread and butter for STR Builders.
The family owned and operated business has been operating in the Riverina area for 25 years.
Ty and Jen Nichols work alongside Ty’s parents Rod and Cheryl.
The team build a lot of large family homes around the region and have recently started building in the Bungendore, Braidwood and Murrumbateman area.
“We don’t limit ourselves to Wagga,” Jen said.
“We build a lot of big family homes around the whole of the Riverina, we travel far and wide.”
They aren’t just building run-of-the-mill homes either, they specialise in custom design.
“We do what our client requests, we don’t limit them,” Jen said.
“We’ll build a two story home on the side of a hill or build a home on a rural property.”
It was their ability to customise that was recognised at this year’s HIA Awards when they took out the win for Custom Built Home up to $250,000.
The team were “ecstatic” to take out the win with a home they were proud to enter.
“We were very confident that the house was going to stand out,” Jen said.
“The building process flowed really well and the owner knew what he wanted.”
The winning home is a well planned and modern three bedroom home that “just oozes the cottage cuteness.”
As you enter the Colourbond cladded house the hallway guides you one of two ways.
To the left is the bedroom and bathroom and the right is a large living space with a window at either end allowing air flow in the summer months and lovely afternoon winter sun.
Backing onto the lounge room wall is the spacious dining area and kitchen.
This well thought out square-shaped kitchen has used every space available with a large corner pantry and over heads. The use of a mirror splash back enhances the feel of space. The dining area has a sliding door which opens up onto the back verandah and outdoor patio. The three way bathroom with floor to ceiling tiles feels open.
STR Builders construct 50 to 60 homes a year catering for clientele from first home buyers to repeat customers.
