Wagga Little Athletics Club kicked things off on Thursday, while the Kooringal-Wagga Athletics Club will resume on Friday after hosting their first session before the school holidays.
Wagga Little Athletics Club president Hamish Wheatley said the emphasis of the new season would be on mastering the fundamentals.
“This year we’ll be focusing more than ever on getting everyone’s technique right and really have some fun with it,” he said.
“We’re really excited to get the season underway, we’re really looking forward to it.”
Wheatley said he was expecting about 200 athletes to attend the season-curtain raiser on Thursday, adding that there was no shortage of new families joining the club.
Jubilee Park will also play host to the Kooringal-Wagga Open Carnival on November 5, WWLA's Open Carnival on November 19 and the State Multi Event Championships on March 3 and 4.
