After last year’s wash-out, secretary Rachel Day said they were pleased to be back for their 25th year celebration.
“The crowd was over 1000, which is up on previous years,” Day said.
“It was a great atmosphere, everyone’s enjoyed their day out and there’s a few partying on. The committee was very happy with the day and the fields of horses.”
Along with Wagga’s Scott Spackman claiming the Cup, trainers Erin Maher (Bendigo), Rick Freyer (Corowa), Rodger Waters (Wantabadgery), Scott McIntosh (Wangaratta) and Trevor Sutherland (Wagga) shared the spoils.
After having two seconds, two thirds and a fourth, Sutherland claimed the last with Tearful Kitty ($2.50f) winning by two-and-a-half lengths, the day’s biggest margin.
“He’s a very strong supporter of Lockhart and we really appreciate his support,” Day said.
