Dan Kilian has signed on for another season for Tumut.
The big man’s season was plagued as he dealt with a drugs supply case in Queensland.
Kilian made a big impact to start the season, starring in their first four games.
But then missed the next 14 rounds before being handed a three and a half year suspended sentence.
It cleared him for a return in time for the finals charge.
He will be one of the keys going forward for the Blues.
Tumut president Tom Arragon believes it will be a big boost to already have the powerful front rower recommitted.
“He makes a pretty big difference and we have lacked big boys up front for a few years now,” Arragon said.
“We had a few this year which made a difference to everyone.”
With their coaching role is still up in the air, following the revelation the Blues are advertising Jarrad Teka’s role, there are still plenty of doubts over who else will join the Blues in 2018.
Tamati Ioane was named the club’s best and fairest on Saturday night, but Arragon admitted he’s far from a certain starter for next season.
“He’s undecided yet and we are still negotiating that,” he said.
“He’s unsure on what he is doing so the ball is in his court really.
“He has offers from a few places and he’s only young, he’s still 20, and if he wants to go we aren’t going to hold him back.
“Naturally we would like to keep him but sometimes that is not possible.
After a slow start to the season, Arragon thought he really turned his season around once he dropped about 14 kilograms down from when he arrived.
There are also doubts over whether captain Adam Pearce will be back.
Pearce travelled from Canberra to play with his hometown club last season, but indicated he isn’t willing to do it again.
Arragon remains hopeful a permanent return to Tumut will see him line up in a Blues jumper next season.
“Whether we could entice him home is another thing and we certainly would like to,” he said.
Ben Roddy is another of Tumut’s keys were has recommitted.
After charging up the ladder in 2017, going from wooden spooners to preliminary finalists, Arragon said the Blues were looking to focus more on local talent.
