Selina Hancock, who stains and finishes the sculptures after they are carved using a chainsaw, said Mr McClelland had to get used to the crowds before he was ready to put on the popular performance. 

“We only recently started doing shows as he’s very shy but I encouraged him that we should do it and it’s been amazing,” Ms Hancock said. 

“He puts his music on and tunes out everything else. 

“The crowds love watching him and are always impressed.” 

While most carvers traditionally use wood working tools, Mr McClelland trumps them all and finishes off intricate details with the massive saw. 

Visiting from Melbourne, 22-year-old Daisy Lucas said she was very impressed as she watched the sculptures unfold before her eyes.
