Coming in as massive underdogs to this year’s decider is something Waratahs coach Angus Macloed is looking to use to his advantage.

Leeton are yet to taste defeat this season and head into the Southern Inland grand final off a 66-27 victory over Waratahs in the major semi-final.
It was a far different situation last season, when it was the Wagga club who had all the pressure of an unbeaten record coming into the decider.
While they just held Wagga City at bay to win a thrilling grand final, after they almost upset a dominant Albury outfit in the 2015 decider, this time the pressure is on the Phantoms.
Macloed is hoping to make the most of it at Leeton No.1 Oval on Saturday.
“It is certainly a different feeling as we haven’t been the form side all year,” Macleod said.
“So we just have to enjoy our footy, enjoy the fact we’re in the grand final, and from a club’s perspective all three men’s games.
“There are certainly chances there for an upset and that is what we are aiming to do – to cause a big upset.”
Grand finals rarely unfold the same as the regular season.
Macleod is looking for enthusiasm as they hope to reverse their only three losses of the season.
“They have to bring enthusiasm and the belief that they can do it,” he said.
Waratahs come into the clash with an unchanged outfit from the win over Wagga City in the preliminary final.
Leeton have only played twice in the last month, while Waratahs have been involved in all four weeks of the finals.
Macleod isn’t sure what affect that will have on the teams, but after a promising first half in their last clash he knows the side is capable of causing a surprise.
One thing far from ideal is a lurgy going through the club.
Around half of the first grade team have been inflicted over the past three weeks and things haven’t changed coming into the biggest game of the year.
“The rugby gods aren’t smiling on me,” Macloed said.
