Pauline and the burqa
With the immediate and huge uproar about Pauline Hanson’s “burqa stunt” in parliament, all the journalists and commentators who come down on her like a tonne of bricks must yet be aware of the fact that she merely gives voice and truly represents what a large proportion of us Australians think.

Pauline Hanson is a better and more genuine representative of us than Attorney General George Brandis, who got stuck into her. He listens to his own voice and not the voters.
Now don’t immediately jump to conclusions. I’m not against Muslims and their preferred dress code. But just consider the plain facts. The burqa and any head covering worn by Muslim women is purely a custom enforce by Muslim literature. That is why, in some more liberated Muslim countries, the burqa has been banned.
The Muslim men who insist on forcing their women to wear the burqa or other head covering are putting their women down.
And the idiotic and hypocritical Labor and Green parliamentarians stood up and clapped to support the wearing of the burqa and they would be the first to jump down the throat of any Australian man who would try to force their women folk to wear some kind of head covering.
It is exactly Pauline Hanson who dares to stand up for women's rights and dignity - she deserves a standing ovation.

Assistance for veterans
This Government is committed to supporting current and former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) who may have been physically or sexually abused.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) has introduced measures to make it easier for those affected to access compensation and to receive the mental health support they need.
The Department has broadened the acceptance of statutory declarations as part of compensation claims, making it possible for such declarations to constitute sufficient evidence to establish that abuse took place. This change will benefit those who may not have reported abuse at the time it occurred or who have never previously spoken about it.
Treatment for all mental health conditions is now free for anyone who has served just one day in the full-time ADF. The Veterans and Veterans’ Families Counselling Service also provides specialist free counselling and group programs. This service is available by phoning 1800 011 046, or via their website: www.vvcs.gov.au.
