Carey is facing two weeks on the sidelines, if he takes an early guilty plea, after being charged with striking.
The young Hawk was charged with intentionally or carelessly striking Temora’s Dan Reid in the third quarter of their clash on Saturday.
The alleged strike at Gumly was graded intentional, the impact medium and the contact high.
It has attracted a base sanction of three weeks, which can be reduced to two with the early guilty plea.
The charge has left Carey in doubt for East Wagga’s crunch game against Northern Jets at Ardlethan on Saturday.
The Hawks are currently in fifth place with one round before the start of the finals series, however they need to defeat the Jets to lock in the position.
The Hawks have until 5pm Tuesday on whether to take the early guilty plea.
