Curgenven made a mid season switch back to the Boiled Lollies after initially leaving the club for a stint with Group Nine club Tumut.
Deciding to move back to Wagga City, who he helped make a grand final appearance last year, Curgenven has played in the last five games for the club and will play his sixth against Leeton on Saturday.
However in order to qualify for finals Southern Inland rules state players must have played seven games in a grade to be eligible.
The Boiled Lollies have put in a special dispensation for Curgenven to play in the finals series, which starts next Saturday, but board members are still mulling over the decision.
Rugby manager Mick McTaggart, who does not have a vote in the matter, expects a discussion will not be made until Monday.
It leaves City heading into their final game of the season not knowing whether the star playmaker will be able to play past the clash with the ladders leaders at Leeton No.1 Oval.
Waratahs have already had number eight Dave Armstrong given the dispensation after he missed the first half of the season and will have played the same amount of game as Curgenven.
However McTaggart emphasised that each case was based on its own merit and have differing circumstances.
Despite the uncertainty, Curgenven will play at fullback as the Boiled Lollies look to lock in third position.
They moved three points clear of Tumut in the battle for third with a win over the Bulls last week, but it wasn’t enough to confirm the position.
Picking up a bonus point would guarantee third, and a second chance in the finals, but it is far from what coach Michael Kanck wants his team to focus on.
“On the football field we play to win,” Kanck said.
“There is no doubt about that and are not happy with just bonus points or anything like that.”
With finals fast approaching, Kanck believes their is a good “vibe” in the club and they are looking to use this game to work out just where the club is at.
Leeton are yet to taste defeat this season, but Kanck is looking to take another approach to trying to get the better of them.
“We have had a few tough games in the last couple of weeks and some close results so we really want to see where we are sitting and where they are sitting as far as quality of rugby before finals,” he said.
“Plenty of clubs have tried starving possession and cutting off their supply chain but we will go out there, run our system of rugby and see if it is good enough on the day.
“We are confident in our plays and structures.”
Rory Sheard comes back from suspension for the clash.
Oscar Sykes is also expected to come off the bench after missing last week with a leg injury.
