The first was a package of merchandise items delivered ahead of Daffodil Day on August 25.
The second was a $20,000 cheque, which came from the South Wagga Rotary Club and was some of $80,000 the club is donating to community groups this year.
The funds have been earmarked for projects including Lilier Lodge, which provides accommodation for people undergoing cancer treatment, and the transport to treatment scheme.
Community engagement manager Pip Grant said there were plans for an expansion of the transport to treatment service, which provides drivers and cars to people undergoing cancer treatment, who have issues with distance, time, fatigue and the need to avoid public spaces and germ exposure.
“In the Murrumbidgee region alone, it is estimated that approximately 1729 people will be diagnosed with cancer in a single year,” communications and events co-ordinator Brianna Carracher said.
