An Ashmont man in breach of several good behaviour bonds has been slammed with $700 worth of fines after pleading guilty to four traffic-related offences.
The man’s juvenile record includes various serious offences including an aggravated break and enter.
The 18-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was present in the children’s court as his sentence was handed down on Friday.
Solicitor Alina Youself said a serious motor accident, which left the accused in a critical condition, had acted as a wake up call.
“He has a bright future ahead of him and putting him behind bars could achieve an entirely a different outcome,” Ms Youself said. Magistrate Michael Crompton said he would not take action against the breach of bonds, given the charges were of a completely different nature.
